A key employee is an employee on whose job performance the entire company depends. That is the person who has unique knowledge, skills, the company asset, the value of which cannot be measured.
At the end of each year, the management of Stroitegia reflects on the results of work and on their basis announces the key employees. In this article we will tell you about the engineering foreman Oleg Tereshko; he is the one who at the end of 2020 became the key employee among the engineers in charge of the facilities. We asked him a few questions and now we are keen to share this short interview with you.
1. How did your professional life start?
It all started from entering Minsk State Architectural and Construction College (MSACC) and subsequent practical activities during graduate placement. Later, after a few years of working as a construction & mechanical foreman in SU-3 Belstroy (a brand of Stroitegia), I was promoted to the position of engineering foreman.
2. What emotions did you feel when you found out that you were the key employee of the past year?
Naturally, it was very unexpected! But considering the workload and the amount of the executed work this year at the Slavkaliy facility, something told me it would work out that way
3. Please tell us about the facility where you are currently working.
At the moment, I work at the "Nezhinsky mining and processing complex on the basis of the Starobinsky potash salt deposit" facility. We started working at this facility in June 2020; as usual, construction began with earthworks - the excavation of a pit, then works on driving-in of piles were carried out, followed by the implementation of monolithic grillages and the installation of foundations for lifting machines. In the beginning, the Stroitegia team began to perform two tasks: the construction of the pit with cage winding hoist house and the skip shaft hoist house. Currently, there are eight sub-facilities in operation, and at least fifteen facilities are planned in the future.
4. Do you have a lot of experience in industrial construction?
Projects of a similar type in my professional activity have already been met in LLC "GKM-Engineering" in the Russian Federation, Perm Region, Berezniki in 2016 during the construction of the Usolsky potash plant. This experience is very helpful in working at "Nezhinsky mining and processing complex" facility.
5. What do you like most? What takes your breath away on a construction site?
For me, the most important things in my work are constant movement, development and professionalism. These particular qualities characterize the employees of Stroitegia. The competent interaction with the Employer is also a very important factor.
6. What do you like most about your job?
Working in Stroitegia on such large-scale and modern projects is a daily challenge to yourself – you are constantly faced with something new, but in the end, all this helps to "pump" your level of professionalism. I also like that the practical application of innovative technologies on the construction site is a new invaluable experience, because the technology and the construction industry itself do not stand still.
7. What processes have you managed to learn and what new things have you come away with while working at such a complex facility as the Nezhinsky mining and processing complex?
At this facility, I use the experience I gained in Berezniki at almost the same large-scale industrial facility. After the construction of the Usolsky potash plant, I understand that there is nothing impossible and unsustainable for achieving the goals when performing the tasks set.
8. What advice do you have for new company employees/employees who want to become a key employee?
The most important thing is to give your best in the workplace, set a goal and achieve it. You can't be indifferent to what you do! You need to think correctly and quickly to solve the emerging force majeure circumstances. And, of course, to be sociable, because the ability to find a common language with people helps to solve even the most difficult tasks.
